Cherokee has suffixes that can be used to express
many different ideas.
These suffixes are added directly to the verb stem and must
be kept in a correct order.
Note the order of the prefixes below; they must be
maintained in this numbered order when used.
Initial Prefixes
1. yi- (negative, conditional)
2. tsi- (time reference)
3. wi- (away)
4. n- (lateral, already, specified)
5. de- (plural object)
6. da- (future, motion toward)
7. di- (distant)
8. i- (again)
9. ga- (since)
10. bound pronoun
Final Suffixes
These suffixes come after the tense suffix.
1. -gwu (still, only, just)
2. -sgo (question suffix)
3. -ju (question suffix)
4. -ge (or)
5. -na (and what about/if)
6. -hv (but; follows question suffix -sgo.)
7. -isi (or else...)
8. -dv (exclamative; response to a question.)
